Time Commitment: Up to 4 days per month
The Woodard Corporation is one of England’s largest charities. Its educational mission sees it providing education and social mobility to approximately 30,000 pupils in 47 schools across the maintained and independent sectors. Given the unusual make up of the schools in the Corporation and the scale of its operations across England, the Corporation not only aims to be the educational provider of choice, but also to be a well informed and valued voice in the wider educational debate.
The charity was founded by Canon Nathaniel Woodard with a vision to provide high quality education in an actively Christian school environment for all. This vision remains true today, but the Corporation has been careful to evolve and develop to ensure the organisation remains relevant and able to meet the educational needs of current and future generations.
Against this backdrop of change, the Corporation wishes to recruit a non-executive Chair who will ensure that Woodard remains at the forefront of development and performance in education. S/He will provide effective leadership and vision for the organisation and have the opportunity to work with a broad range of stakeholders as an ambassador and advocate for the values and morals of the Woodard Corporation. The Chair also has responsibility for the performance of the Woodard Academies Trust.
Ideal candidates will have a commercial outlook, strong communication skills and experience of leadership within complex organisations, in both an executive and non executive capacity. They will demonstrate strong influencing skills, and the ability to build relationships at high level, as well as a collegiate and diplomatic manner. It will be critical that the person is strongly empathetic to the Corporation’s educational mission.
