St Thomas’ School in Colombo, Sri Lanka recently joined the Woodard Corporation as an affiliated school. During King’s College Easter cricket tour of Dubai and Sri Lanka, the school’s players had the pleasure of playing against the school, and last week, were reunited when St Thomas’ came to King’s as part of their tour to the UK.
Accompanied by their Headteacher, Rev Marc Ballamoria, the players and staff were warmly welcomed and Rev Marc had the opportunity to meet our own father Mark as he toured the school with Headmaster Mr Richard Biggs.
St Thomas’ is the top cricketing school in Sri Lanka. They were unbeaten on their UK tour, until they came up against the King’s 1st XI.
In a very exciting and closely-fought match King’s managed to win by a handful of runs, in large part down to some excellent fielding, which resulted in St Thomas’ losing four wickets to run-outs. King’s pupil Luke Oldknow, who plays for the Zimbabwe U19 side, scored his maiden century and also bowled superbly at the death.
King’s College were delighted to host St Thomas’ and wish them well for the remainder of their tour and hope very much that to continue to develop the relationship between the two Woodard schools in the future.
