Results Success Continues For Alderley GirlsPupils at Alderley Edge School for Girls have, yet again, achieved excellent results in their GCSE and IGCSE examinations.  The girls’ impressive grades reflect their hard work and commitment, as well as the dedication of their teachers.

Twelve girls achieved straight A* and A grades, including two girls with straight A* grades: Tanya Wilson (13 A* grades) and Iona Morphet (12 A* grades).  Both of these girls also obtained A grades in their AS Level English Language which they took a year early.

Other high achievers include Evie Hughes (9A* and 2A grades); Alex Glover (8A* and 3A grades) and Fiona Smith (8A* and 3A grades).  With 50 A* grades between them, all five of these girls are looking forward to commencing their A Level studies at the school next week.

Across all subjects, almost half of the grades awarded were at A*/A with three quarters at A* to B.  The girls achieved particularly strong results in ICT (85% A*/A), Biology and Chemistry (both 75% A*/A).  Other subjects in which the girls excelled include Latin (75% A*), Geography (73% A*/A) and Religious Studies (72% A*/A).

Mrs Susan Goff, Headmistress, commented “I am delighted to share in the girls’ well-deserved success.  In spite of the increasing pressure on them and the volatility of this year’s GCSE results, the girls have risen to the challenge.  Over the past two years, they have been committed to achieving the very best results they can and have been supported by their inspirational teachers who give their time to help and encourage them”.

Mrs Kate Cheetham, Head of VI Form, commented “I am really looking forward to working with the new cohort of girls as they take this exciting step and move up to become VI Form students.  I know that they will give a great deal both in and out of the classroom, meeting the challenges and responsibilities which VI Form life holds.”
