King’s Hall School in Taunton welcomed 28 pupils from three prep schools (King’s Hall, St Peter’s School Lympstone and The Downs) to their annual Prep Schools’ String Day.  Over the course of the day the pupils worked tirelessly, rehearsing both as a whole orchestra, and in smaller sections to prepare for a concert in front of their parents, grandparents and teachers.

The pupils, from Years 2 to 8, learned to play “I Wanna Be Like You” from The Jungle Book, ‘March’ from Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker, and a Brazilian piece called “Tico-Tico no Fuba” accompanied by drum kit and bass guitar.

There was also a performance from a violin trio who played Beethoven’s Serenade after just one rehearsal.  Commenting on this annual event, Music teacher Alison Powell said “This is always a fun day, seeing pupils develop in skill and confidence. The end performance was the result of lots of hard work and concentration. We look forward to the next String Day
