Pursuit of Knowledge is an innovative Philosophy Conference which will be held at Worksop College on the 29th and 30th October 2015. Students from across all Woodard Schools are invited to attend.

An impressive line-up of key speakers will deliver lectures which will demonstrate the breadth of Philosophy as a discipline. The inter-disciplinary nature of the lectures means that the Conference is just as relevant to Biology, English and Mathematics as it is to Religious Studies.

There will be the opportunity to interact with some of the most prominent thinkers in Philosophy. A series of seminars, workshops and games run by the University of Sheffield which will allow students to engage with undergraduate students, key note speakers and each other. The aim is to provide a genuine and exciting experience of Philosophy at its best.

The Conference’s secondary aim is to bring together schools, universities and exam boards to inspire discussion of the role of Philosophy in schools in general. All accompanying members of staff will be invited to contribute to this discussion.

The Conference is open to students in Years 10, 11, 12 and 13 at the cost of £25 per student including food and board. One teacher will be able to attend for free for every 10 students. Please email pok15@wsnl.co.uk with an estimate of how many students you would like to bring. Entrance to the Conference is being held for Woodard only until Easter. Thereafter schools nationwide will be invited to attend. Places will be on a first come, first served basis.
