Old Dirty Brasstards, London’s finest drum ‘n’ brass 10-piece are Associate Artists at Lancing College. Last week they presented a day of workshops for pupils of Lancing College and Sir Robert Woodard Academy, which culminated in a public concert at the Pavilion Theatre, Worthing. This opportunity had been eagerly anticipated and pupil musicians from as young as 12 years performed with the Old Dirty Brasstards.

The audience and musicians were exhilarated. One enthusiastic audience member said “Music to die for…  The Dirty Old Brasstards combining with the Young Clean Brasstards from Lancing College and The Woodard Academy entertained the crowd to rave reviews.”

These recent workshops, which were organised by Lancing College’s Director of Music, Dr Ian Morgan-Williams, are the latest in a series of sessions with the Old Dirty Brasstards, whose education projects are flexible and tailored to the environment, scale and pupil level of each institution. Workshops focus on musical skills such as performance technique, intonation, ensemble playing and sight reading whilst playing alongside the Old Dirty Brasstards lineup (using simplified charts according to ability) and having lots of fun!
