King’s College pupil Louis Benneyworth has secured a place in the final of FilmBath’s FilmScore competition.
FilmScore is a unique contest that invites young musicians aged between 14 and 19 years to compose an original score for one of a selection of short films. Thirteen-year-old Louis is one of five shortlisted candidates and will present his score to a panel of professional judges later this month.

This year’s judges include Alastair King, a British composer renowned for his work on the Harry Potter film series, and Hutch Demouilpied, a UK based musician who has recently completed work on the 2016 feature film, The Levelling.

Louis became involved in the competition after researching composition opportunities in the UK. His final piece, inspired by the drama of classical film scores, depicts the cyclical nature of night and day. Upon receiving the news, he said: “I was very excited when I heard and I am most intrigued about how this could shape my future path.”

Director of Music at King’s College, Colin Albery commented: “Louis continually proves to be a talented and valued member of the King’s Schools community. We are all very proud of him and wish him the best of luck in the competition.”
