This week saw a wonderful performance from our youngest children in celebration of the Harvest Festival. The whole of Pre-Prep performed to their parents and the rest of the prep school, in chapel on Tuesday. There were some fabulous reprisals of some new and old favourites: Big Red Combine Harvester, The Bean Song, Mr Scarecrow, Harvest Samba and The Harvest Song. They had all brought with them their harvest contributions of fruit and vegetables, some of which had been home grown. They had also made a scarecrow in class to scare the birds away from the harvest!
The next day the Pre-Prep pupils visited Barrowhill Hall nursing home in Rocester with Mrs Clews and Mrs Wild to deliver the produce that had been so generously donated by our families. The residents that they met were delighted with everything that they had brought with them.
Tina Coar, Manager of Barrowhill Hall, said “On behalf of all the residents and staff at Barrowhill Hall, we can’t thank you enough for thinking of us all at this time.”
The children were reminded that it is an important time to remember the elderly. Cosima, Lydia, Jack, Ted, Jack and Harry were excited to be picked to visit the local nursing home.
Mrs Clews, Head of the Pre-Prep, said she was extremely proud of the children for sharing their harvest produce with the nursing home. One of the residents even had her own private performance of The Bean Song, sung outside, of course.

Denstone College is an independent school of more than 700 pupils aged 4-18. It has been educating boys and girls since 1873 and offers a truly all-round education. The high standard of pastoral and academic provision is remarkable, and this has been confirmed by recent Ofsted and ISI inspections. A2 results are usually in line with those of the very best all-round schools nationally.
The latest investment in facilities at the College include the new prep school, The Prep at Denstone College (TPDC), which was opened in September 2021. This development represents £1.8 m of investment in our younger students, with £127k spent on the carefully designed playground areas, aiming to aid the physical development of the children and to include an element of adventure and independence.
With a dedicated, talented and inspiring staff, fantastic facilities and as impressive a rural setting as you could find, we balance the pursuit of academic excellence with a broad co-curricular programme. Denstone College offers students more than 40 sports and activities, some of which take place in the recently completed Adamson’s Sports Complex, which includes a pavilion, astro turf, netball and tennis courts as well as rugby and cricket pitches. The College also has invested in further new cricket facilities which include a state of the art all weather facility and new nets.
The College offers opportunities for a range of co-curricular activities including outdoor pursuits, music and drama. Visit the website, www.denstonecollege.org for information on the College’s outstanding value for money, and its boarding packages.
