Pre-Prep pupils are excited to see the plans for some inspiring developments at Queen Mary’s School, for girls aged 4 – 16 and boys aged 4 – 8.
For pupils joining in September, a new indoor Orchard will create a large, modern, multi-use learning space at the heart of the Pre-Prep and Prep School complete with a tree, reading house and walled seating.
Arabella from Year 2 is so excited. “I can’t wait to see the tree and read with my friends in the special house.”
In addition, there is a Phase 2 development planned with state-of-the-art new classrooms and outdoor learning areas for the growing school.
The thriving school, between Ripon and Thirsk, already offers a tailored experience for every pupil with specialist teachers, a broad curriculum and the chance for all activities to be within school. Ballet to riding, swimming to tennis, music to football, these are all available on site to help with busy family life alongside wraparound care.
The recent Good Schools Guide review commented on “a strong focus on high quality teaching and learning” developing the “whole child”. Queen Mary’s has also received recognition from The Sunday Times being within their top ten schools without a sixth form in their Parent Power Schools Guide 2023. These new developments will provide even more opportunities to learn within an enriching environment.
Carole Cameron, Head of Queen Mary’s School is delighted: “It is an exciting time for Queen Mary’s. The developments coincide with the arrival of our new Assistant Head: Prep and Pre-Prep, Craig Nellis, and our Pre-Prep Lead, Anna Whitham, who are experts in their field and already building on Queen Mary’s success.”
Queen Mary’s parent, Aimee Barker, from Harrogate describes Queen Mary’s as “a wonderful place to begin your child’s education. Alongside all the things that you look for in a school, great teaching, wonderful facilities and a wide range of opportunities, at Queen Mary’s, my children can be who they want to be and there is no pressure to grow up too quickly. These new plans will enhance the facilities even further.”
As part of their outreach into the local community, Queen Mary’s is offering new, free, Stay and Explore sessions for 2 – 4 year olds and their families and carers on the first Monday of every month during term time. Children will be able to enjoy stories, crafts and more. For more information visit queenmarys.org or call 01845 575040.
