Friday evening’s Anglo Welsh cup clash will feature three home grown talents and Old Denstonians. College old boys Ben White (Heywood 2009 – 2014) and Sam Lewis (Philips 2009 – 2016) will start for Leicester Tigers, who face Bath in the second round of the Cup and Bath’s starting line-up includes Levi Davis (Selwyn 2011 – 2016)). The match, to be held at Bath Rugby’s home, the Recreation Ground will be refereed by Greg MacDonald and is one of eight Anglo Welsh cup matches taking place over the weekend.
All three boys learned their rugby at the College and in local clubs, and all three represented England U18s in 2016. Director of Rugby at the College, Jack Moran, himself an OD, said “We are all incredibly proud of the boys and wish them well in the game. The Rugby Club at Denstone continues to flourish, with fixtures against some of the very best schools in the country. That these boys should now be playing for premiership clubs is a real validation of rugby at Denstone. We will all be watching on Friday evening.”
