Denstone College are delighted to congratulate our students on some outstanding A-level results following a particularly challenging 2 year study programme.

With over 85% of our students achieving B grade or higher in their chosen subjects, the future is truly looking bright as they move forward.  Indeed, 7 of the 91 students who entered the exams received a clean sweep of A* results in subjects as wide ranging as Maths, Sciences, Geography, Politics, Economics, Spanish, French and Art.  A truly amazing achievement for Poppy Fenton, Rudraneil Haldar, Oscar Haywood, Olivia Jacklin-Chatha, Oliver Skingley, Anthony Vakis and Edgar Webber.

One of those students is Anthony Vakis, who achieved A*s in Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.  He is ‘incredibly happy’ and looking forward to studying Medicine at Oxford University.  Poppy Fenton will be heading to Durham University to study Human Geography with A*s in Geography, English Literature and Biology.  She is also, ‘really happy and excited’ about her results.

Lydia Rudd is excited about her future studies at London School of Economics after achieving the amazing result of A* in Maths, Religious Studies and EPQ, whilst also getting A’s in Further Maths and French and thereby achieving the highest UCAS total in the school.  She will be studying PPE.

Outgoing Head, Miles Norris said “These results are a fantastic reflection of the dedication, hard work and commitment that the U6th have put into their studies. They have coped so well with shifting sands and a sixth form experience that was far from normal in the face of a global pandemic. They have done so with good cheer, a steadfast nature and an unswerving commitment to their studies. They have contributed so much to the school in their time here and I am very grateful to them. The U6th leavers deserve to be extremely proud of themselves. As they head off into the next stages of their lives, I wish them all the very best for their futures. I would also like to thank the teachers, led by Mr Bell (Deputy Head Academic), who have so expertly adapted to the assessment changes introduced so late in the academic year and prepared our pupils so effectively. It has been an incredible team effort this year, so typical of the staff at Denstone College!
