Bursaries and Scholarships

Bursaries and Scholarships

Each year Woodard schools provide help and assistance to parents of pupils in the form of bursaries and scholarships.  The level of this assistance totals in the region of 15.5% of the gross fee income of the group – over £22.7 million in 2015-16.

Bursaries

Bursaries are awarded to pupils who demonstrate special success or potential and whose families would be otherwise unable to afford the full fees.  Bursaries are means-tested concessions and are reviewed annually.  There is no standard value of bursary and the level of support offered will be based on the specific needs of the family and pupil.  Parents seeking this form of concession should approach the Woodard school in question in order to establish the local policy.

Scholarships

Scholarships, or ‘exhibitions’, are offered by Woodard schools to support pupils gifted or talented in particular areas of study or activity.  Qualification for a scholarship is usually by examination or test and is mostly provided in the areas of academic study, music, art, sport, drama, design or all round achievement.

Not all scholarships have a financial value and many are means-tested.  In some cases scholarships attract a single monetary award.  Parents seeking information about available scholarships should approach the Woodard school to establish availability.
